Wadsworth, Illinois
Handcrafted with patience, wrapped in corn husks, and simmered with tradition — our tamales are more than food. They are a story passed down through generations, served fresh every day.
Our Story
At Tamales El Guero, we believe that the best meals are the ones made with intention and care. Every morning, our kitchen begins before dawn — folding corn husks, spooning seasoned meat into masa, and tying each tamale with the same reverence our family has held for decades.
Located on US Highway 41 in Wadsworth, we've become a quiet staple for locals who know that real flavor doesn't need a flashy sign. Just honest ingredients, time-honored techniques, and a commitment to getting it right every single time.
Our Process
Every tamale goes through a careful, time-honored process that we refuse to rush.
We source the finest corn for our masa and choose premium cuts of meat, seasoned with a blend of chiles and spices passed down through our family.
Each tamale is hand-assembled — a generous spoonful of masa spread across a soaked corn husk, filled, and tied with care to seal in every bit of flavor.
The wrapped tamales are stacked in large pots and slow-simmered for hours, allowing the masa to absorb the smoky, aromatic steam from the husks.
We never serve yesterday's batch. Every tamale is prepared the same day and served warm, with our house-made salsas and a side of hospitality.
"The kind of place where you leave feeling like you just had a meal at someone's abuela's table — warm, honest, and exactly what you didn't know you needed."
